A Message from Mark Tikonoff, Newly Elected President of BPH

On February 20, BPH held its 2023 Annual Meeting. Membership gathered to recap the year’s accomplishments, hold board member and officer elections, and begin planning for the future.

After five years as BPH president, Greg Sargent has stepped down to take on a new mentoring role on our board. As a board member and previous vice president of BPH, I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside Greg for many years. His passion for creating a truly inclusive community—where people felt safe and welcome—fueled the growth that BPH has seen over the last decade. We all thank him for his countless hours of work, unwavering leadership, and dedication to the organization.

At this year’s Annual Meeting, I was honored to have been elected BPH’s new president. As we look towards the future, I’d like to reaffirm my commitment to maintaining our inclusive culture, continuing to improve and expand programming for LGBTQIA+ players and allies across our communities, and working together to build upon the efforts of our predecessors.

I’d also like to congratulate our reelected board members, including BPH’s new vice president Krystyn Elek, and a big welcome to all new board members Frank Bachmann, Myles Tucker, and Dana Valletti. As an all-volunteer organization, members stepping up to offer support and leadership is fundamental to our success—and I thank each one of you.

See you all on the ice!
